Driving Licence Insurance - Policy Summary

 
   
 

In accordance with the General Insurance Product Disclosure Requirements resulting from FSA Regulation we are required to provide you with a Policy Summary of the ChauffeurPlan Policy provided.

This summary does not contain the full terms and conditions of the insurance contract, which can be found in the policy document or are available upon request.

The ChauffeurPlan Policy – provides insurance against being unable to drive a car as the result of disqualification or incapacitating injury, for car hire costs as the result of a motoring accident, theft or vandalism of the car and emergency travel and legal costs.

The Policy is for a period of one year

Main Features and Benefits
The ChauffeurPlan policy provides benefits in the event of
Disqualification; as the result of a speeding offence or under the “totting up" rules.
Personal Injury; following incapacitating injury that prevents you from being able to drive.
Car Hire Costs; for up to 28 days should your car be stolen, vandalised on involved in an accident.
Emergency Travel & Accommodation Costs; to cover hotel accommodation or transport home in the event of being stranded after an accident or theft of your car.
Legal Costs; of up to £100 towards defending a charge that could lead to a claim on the policy.

Main Exclusions and Limitations
Cover is only available to persons aged 21 years or over who hold and have held a current valid full UK Driving Licence, for a period of at least two years. (See Policy Document Section 3.4) Cover is not available to taxi or minicab drivers. (See Policy Document Section 2.1.5)
You are not covered for totting up disqualification if when you apply for cover, you have more than 7 points on your licence actual possible or pending, or during the previous twelve (12) months been disqualified from driving by reason of 12 penalty points endorsed on your Driving Licence totalling twelve (12) or more.. (See Policy Document Section 3.9.1, 3.9.2 and 3.9.3)
Disqualification imposed as a direct result of drink or drug related offences or for dangerous, reckless, careless or inconsiderate driving is excluded. (See Policy Document Section 3.3)
Being unable to drive due to medical conditions or illness is excluded. (See Policy Document Section 4.7) The first 7 days for any claim for alternative travel costs under the Injury Section (See Policy Document Section 4)
Benefits are paid for a maximum period of twelve months from the date of disqualification or injury. (See Policy Document Section 3.7 and 4.5)
Cover for Car Hire and Emergency Travel following an accident, theft or vandalism is conditional on the incident being the subject of a Motor Insurance Claim. (See Policy Document Section 5.1.1 and 6.1)
The Policy does not cover car hire costs following fire, mechanical fault or mechanical breakdown. The first 2 days car hire costs of any period of hire are excluded. (See Policy Document Section 5.1.4 and 5.2.1)

Cooling Off Period and Cancellation Rights: If in the unlikely event of you not receiving the information regarding your policy prior to you making a decision to buy it, you have a 14-day period, commencing when you receive your documents in which to cancel your cover within this period and get all your money back (as long as you have not made a claim)

Renewals: We will give notice of renewal in writing at least 21 days prior to the renewal date and unless you advise us otherwise in writing, we will automatically renew policies paid for by direct debit, credit card or standing order.

Fees: You will not be required to pay any fees or charges in addition to the premium required.

Complaints: If you have a complaint regarding the service received from ChauffeurPlan this should be addressed, preferably in writing to The Compliance Director, ChauffuerPlan, IOMA House, Hope Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 1AP.
Supervisory Authority details:
If you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Isle of Man Financial Services Ombudsman, Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading, Government Buildings, Lord Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 1LE. Telephone number - 01624 686500. www.gov.im/oft/ombudsman 


The ChauffeurPlan Policy is underwritten by Isle of Man Assurance Limited, IOMA House, Hope Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, authorised and regulated by the Isle of Man Government Insurance and Pensions Authority and regulated by the Financial Services Authority for the conduct of UK business (FSA Firm Reference No. 142307). Isle of Man Assurance Limited is permitted to conduct business with the UK, it is not authorised to carry on business in the UK which means that the management and solvency are not supervised by the Financial Services Authority and you will not be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if the Insurer is unable to meet its liabilities to you. Isle of Man Assurance Limited is a member of the International Underwriters Association. If you have a complaint regarding the service received from by Isle of Man Assurance Limited, please contact the Compliance Department. If your complaint is not dealt with to your satisfaction you can complain to the Isle of Man Financial Services Ombudsman.
